840 Cats and Dogs Sterilized in West Jakarta

West Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture Sub-agency (KPKP) has sterilized 840 cats and dogs during January to June 2024. Sterilization is run to control population of both animals.

"Sterilisasi ini sebagai upaya untuk mengontrol populasi kucing dan anjing,"

West Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture Sub-agency Head, Novy C Palit, explained 130 cats were sterilized in January, 74 cats in February, 368 cats in march, 23 dogs in April, and 245 cats in June.

"The sterilization is aimed to handle population of cats and dogs," she said.

During the sterilization, she added, her side cooperated with Lets Adopt Indonesia, Jakarta Pusyankeswannak, Animal Defenders Indonesia, JAAN Domestik and PDHI Jakarta Branch as implementers.

"Sterilization will continue to be carried out in order to control the population, especially stray cats. Apart from that, there are also efforts to prevent rabies and maintain Jakarta as a rabies-free city since 2004," she explained.
